Kristi McNeal, LSCSW

About Me:

My educational background is from Wichita State University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2004 and a masters degree in social work in 2012. I have a background in community work that includes working with a variety of populations, including the intellectual/developmental disability community, community mental health, juvenile justice and child welfare. I have also provided individual and group therapy, with a focus on Dialectical Behavior Therapy. My most recent experience is in acute mental health in the hospital setting.

As we build the therapeutic relationship, my role is to guide you through deconstructing distorted beliefs that are developed throughout life and keep you stuck in suffering. As a result, your sense of self is restored to become capable of love and nurturing, and creates a foundation to rebuild your value system to create a strong and healthy perspective by which to view the world. We will begin by gaining the coping skills needed to remain safe through the process, and when ready, will begin exploring any other traumatic issues that cause you to remain stuck.

My therapeutic approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and cognitive processing therapy. I specialize in treating individuals with severe emotional dysregulation, such as suicidal thoughts, self harm and borderline personality disorder, systemic trauma such as spiritual or military trauma, mood disorders and anxiety.
